are gogi berries contraband?

I’m back from what was essentially a 36-hour journey to meet Louis for a 2 1/2 day road trip. I  put down my bags, and reflexively opened up the door to a very bare fridge. Luckily, I stocked up at a El Corte Ingles grocery store in Madrid. This time I hauled back two types of granola, oatmeal, whole wheat pasta, soy milk, gogi berries, and of course, dark chocolate. Can you guess who’s missing the Arcata Co-op? I know, who goes to Europe and comes back raving about health food? Here’s what’s to come, after I’ve caught up on sleep: taking the tram and metro and seeing traboules in Lyon, spending way too much time in both the Casablanca and Saint Exupery airports, hotel F1, Barcelona Universidad, having a late-night dinner with two army colonels for Valentine’s Day, Madrid midnight tour, rain in the Pyrenees, a nearly missed ferry across a turbulent Mediterranean, Tanger in its corrupt, exploitative glory, and of course, my reading list.

Mubarak has stepped down. (!)
